Community Capacity

Purpose of the Community Capacity Program

The purpose of these projects is to enhance the community capacity for economic development and diversification within Norfolk County. Funding for community capacity projects is intended to strengthen Norfolk County by supporting projects that are incremental, address local needs and priorities and result in long term benefits including job creation, economic diversification, and enhanced business competitiveness. Projects must demonstrate a significant direct or indirect impact on the enhancement of local business and/or Norfolk County as a whole. Applicants must demonstrate support from partners in the private sector, community organizations, municipalities, and/or the provincial government.

Who Can Apply?

  • Non profit organizations;
  • Municipalities and Municipal organizations;
  • Community Development organizations and other Associations

Eligible Projects

Eligible Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Community based economic development projects;
  • Research projects;
  • Marketing/promotional activities;
  • Tourism events;
  • Seminars/workshops;
  • Integration of technology into services;
  • Small scale capital projects

Funding

Community Capacity Projects can be funded for amounts from $10,000 to a maximum of $150,000

All funds must be expended and projects completed by March 31, 2010

Applying?

To apply for funding you must:

  1. Speak with the Program Coordinator to discuss your project and deadlines for receiving applications.
  2. Download the application and guidelines from the NDBDC website.
  3. Complete the application online and e-mail it to the Program Coordinator
  4. Sign and fax or deliver the last page of the application.

If you are a member of a service group, municipal organization or another non profit group you should discuss your idea with the Program Coordinator, Albert Madill at (519) 428-2323, Ext. 109.
