Internships
Purpose of the Internship Program
The goal of the Internship program is to provide valuable skills from full-time work experience for recent post-secondary graduates or recent graduates of training programs. The objective of this program is to give interns an opportunity to increase their skills which will assist them in securing longer term employment in Norfolk County. This program will lead to a stronger and more diverse workforce and economy in Norfolk County.
Proposed activities should be based on specific projects that have defined start and end dates, and measurable results. The position should provide opportunities for the intern to enhance skills and knowledge gained through their post-secondary education or recent training.
Who Can Apply?
- Private Enterprise such as sole proprietors and partnerships
- Corporations
- Municipal Organizations
- Community Development Organizations and Non Profit Organizations
- Groups or alliances of those described above where a lead recipient has been approved and identified
Funding
- Organizations can apply for a grant of a maximum of $2,500 per month in wage reimbursement
- All funds must be expended and projects completed by March 31, 2010
- Businesses and private enterprise must contribute a minimum of 50% towards the cost of each intern
- Non profit organizations can apply for a grant of up to 100% of an intern's wages with a maximum grant of $2,500 per month for up to 12 months of funding
Applying?
To apply for funding you must:
- Speak with the Program Coordinator to discuss your project and deadlines for receiving applications.
- Download the application and guidelines from the NDBDC website.
- Complete the application online and e-mail it to the Program Coordinator
- Sign and fax or deliver the last page of the application.
