Local Initiatives

Purpose of the Local Initiatives Program

The goal of the Local Initiatives Program is to strengthen and diversify the economy of Norfolk County by supporting community economic development projects that are incremental (a new initiative, an enhancement of existing activities or an addition to existing activities), and involve non profit organizations that are striving to enhance the economic development efforts of Norfolk County.

Who Can Apply?

  • Non profit organizations;
  • Municipalities and Municipal organizations;
  • Community development organizations and other Associations

Eligible Projects

Eligible Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Community based economic development projects;
  • Research projects;
  • Marketing/promotional activities;
  • Tourism events;
  • Seminars/workshops;
  • Integration of technology into services;
  • Small scale capital projects

Funding

Organizations can apply for a grant of a maximum amount of $10,000

All funds must be expended and projects completed by March 31, 2010

Applying?

To apply for funding you must:

  • Speak with the Program Coordinator to discuss your project and deadlines for receiving applications.
  • Download the application and guidelines from the NDBDC website.
  • Complete the application online and e-mail it to the Program Coordinator
  • Sign and fax or deliver the last page of the application.

If you are a member of a service group, municipal organization or another not-for-profit group you should discuss your idea with the Program Coordinator, Albert Madill at 519-428-2323, Ext.109.
