Videoconferencing provides a wide array of benefits — the most obvious being time and cost savings. The time, expense, and fatigue associated with air travel is eliminated while maintaining the benefits of a face-to-face meeting. More people are able to participate because the cost of a videoconference is fixed regardless of how many people attend.
Although the largest benefit from videoconferencing can be realized by larger groups and larger distances, the savings are significant even for short day trips with one or two people.
In a business negotiation, face-to-face contact is critical. A teleconference masks people's facial expressions, gestures, reactions, and how many people are in the room. Videoconferencing, on the other hand, captures nearly all the benefits of an in-person meeting at a fraction of the cost. |
