Skills Development
Purpose of the Skills Development Program
Funding is intended to assist and encourage training of employees, to enhance the skill set of employees, to provide transferable skills to employees, and to contribute to the overall strength of the work force capabilities of Norfolk County.
Training must be for specific employees and have a defined start and end date along with a tangible training outcome such as a certificate.
Who Can Apply?
- Private Enterprises such as sole proprietors and partnerships
- Corporations
- Municipal Organizations
- Community Development Organizations and Non Profit Organizations
- Groups or alliances of those described above where a lead recipient is identified and approved
Eligible Activities
The eligible activities for new or existing employees include:
- on-the-job or classroom training
- in-house or out-sourced training
Funding
- Organizations can apply for a grant of a maximum of $5,000 per employee
- Each organization can apply for a maximum of $25,000 in funding
- All funds must be expended and projects completed by March 31, 2010
- Businesses and private enterprise must contribute a minimum of 50% towards the cost of the training
- Non profit organizations can apply for a grant of a maximum of 100% of an employee's training costs to a maximum total grant of $25,000
Applying?
To apply for funding you must:
- Speak with the Program Coordinator to discuss your project and deadlines for receiving applications.
- Download the application and guidelines from the NDBDC website.
- Complete the application online and e-mail it to the Program Coordinator
- Sign and fax or deliver the last page of the application.
